Flashcard Generator
Create Anki-style flashcards for any topic — great for vocabulary, concepts, and facts.
Prompt
Create [N] flashcards for [TOPIC] at [LEVEL] level. Format each card exactly as: FRONT: [question / term / prompt] BACK: [answer / definition / explanation — max 2 sentences] Rules: - Each card should test exactly one idea (no compound questions) - Fronts should be specific enough that there is only one correct answer - Backs should be concise — if an explanation needs more than 2 sentences, split into two cards - Group cards by subtopic with a heading (e.g., ## Subtopic Name) if applicable Focus on the most important concepts first, then supporting details.
How to Use
Copy the generated cards directly into Anki using the plain-text import feature, or paste them into any flashcard app that accepts front/back format. The "one idea per card" rule is the most important constraint — cards that test multiple things at once are harder to review efficiently and make it difficult to identify exactly what you do or do not know. Aim for 20–30 cards per study session.
Variables
| Variable | Description |
|---|---|
| [N] | Number of flashcards to generate (10–30 is ideal; request more in batches for large topics) |
| [TOPIC] | Subject area for the cards (e.g., "Spanish irregular verbs", "React hooks", "the periodic table") |
| [LEVEL] | Difficulty level — affects how much prior knowledge is assumed and how technical the language is |
Tips
- For vocabulary-heavy subjects like languages or medicine, change the format instruction to "FRONT: [term in target language] / BACK: [translation + example sentence]" to get more useful cards automatically.
- After generating, ask: "Which 5 of these cards are most likely to appear on a standardized exam?" to quickly identify which to prioritize if you are short on study time.
